La Liga’s Madrid rivals Real and Atletico are fighting it out for Valencia’s highly-rated defender Skhodran Mustafi.
Reports in Italy suggest both sides are looking for a new defender and the German has been singled out as the player who interests the Madrid sides.
Mustafi, 22, made his international debut this year and played in three games as Germany won the World Cup in Brazil last summer.
The news of the chase is intriguing to Manchester United fans given the club have been strongly linked to Raphael Varane and Diego Godin in recent weeks.
Seemingly United, along with Chelsea, have been given indications Varane could be available in the summer which would be almost unbelievable given his talent and reputation, whilst Atletico could look towards youth themselves if Godin should leave.
The experienced Atletico man has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford and depending on where Mustafi ends up in the future, United will certainly be looking at bringing in the man being the shifted out to accommodate the 22-year-old defender.
