Man United agree deal to sign Kayne Diedrick Roberts

by Richard Laverty

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign talented young Fulham striker Kayne Diedrick-Roberts.

The 15-year-old had previously been released by the London club due to the amount of promising youngsters they have in Roberts’s position but United have clearly seen something Fulham missed.

Roberts can play as a winger, a striker or a midfielder, apparently impressing United’s scouts at the recent Premier League International Cup hold back in November.

Roberts will sign a professional deal at Old Trafford in July and the club believe he has enough potential to improve with the right guidance.

It continues the recruitment drive currently in place for United’s academy given the club have been linked to bringing in several talents from the continent since Louis van Gaal‘s arrival in the summer.

Several have already had trials at Old Trafford in the six months since Van Gaal took over from David Moyes whilst the club have also been strongly linked with Norwegian sensation Martin Odegaard, although it now looks as though he is on his way to Real Madrid.

Van Gaal has emphasised he wants to bring through young players at the club and has already given debuts to the likes of Patrick McNair, Tyler Blackett and Andreas Pereira this season.
