Scouts from Manchester United were in attendance as Sporting Lisbon took on Braga in Portugal over the weekend.
Rumours fly over the identity of who United are keeping eyes on every time they scout Portugal but Carlos Mane is one player who the scouts would have been keeping a close eye on.
Given his position as a winger, the 20-year-old has predictably been dubbed as the next ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’ and has been in fine form Sporting so far this season.
Mane has previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford and has spoken about his pride at bring linked with the club even as a teenager.
Despite rumours linking United with a move for Mane, the club could have also been watching long-term midfield target William Carvalho.
Carvalho was extensively linked and appeared as a prime target for David Moyes but links to the midfielder went cold as soon as Moyes left the club.
The scouts would also have been watching on-loan Sporting winger Nani too. Nani has probably come off best out of the players who left Old Trafford on loan in the summer, excelling both in Portugal and in the Champions League since returning to his first club.
But it wouldn’t be a surprise if United were looking closely at Mane given the lack of top class options on the wing at Old Trafford currently.
