Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone hasn’t given up hope of making it at Old Trafford despite another loan spell to Preston North End.
Johnstone had been on loan at Doncaster but has been recalled by the club so he can join Preston with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
Louis van Gaal appears to be having a reshuffle at Old Trafford, signing Victor Valdes last week with rumours both Anders Lindegaard and Ben Amos will be allowed to follow Johnstone out of the club.
But in an exclusive interview with BeanBagSports, Johnstone maintained he still would like to make it at United.
For young players like yourself coming through the ranks at United and the top clubs, how beneficial is it to go on loan?
SJ: The bigger the club the more difficult it is to break through, especially as a goalkeeper so the loan system is very beneficial.
Manchester United is a club that every youngster dreams of playing for, what is the atmosphere like for young players at the club? Is it hugely competitive?
SJ: It’s great to be part of Manchester United as a young player, however, it is very competitive as the club attracts the best players from all over the world.
What goals have you set for yourself at Preston?
SJ: To visit family more… and help towards the club getting promoted.
What are your longer term goals?
Making it at United has been a goal of mine since I was 10.
