Having been part of Manchester United’s match-day squad to face Southampton last weekend, Victor Valdes will have enjoyed his first week as a United player.
The Spaniard looks to have settled in very well to his new club and given that he has been in and around United since October, that might not come as too much of a surprise, but it’s still good nevertheless to see another world-class player in a United shirt.
Yesterday was Valdes’ 33rd birthday and he celebrated part of it with compatriot, and soon to be neighbour, Juan Mata.
Happy birthday my friend! Hope you had a great day! Felicidades amigo! Espero que hayas pasado un gran día! pic.twitter.com/sIUxtmUTFg
Valdes is unlikely to make an appearance for United in the Premier League any time soon unless David de Gea suffers an injury but the FA Cup game against Cambridge United presents a good opportunity for Louis van Gaal to give him an opportunity.
If he did, Valdes would be desperate to make the most of it because he certainly doesn’t want to settle down as United’s no.2.
