Man United looking to complete two transfers in next two weeks – report

Manchester United are still looking to sign two players in January despite Louis van Gaal insisting it would be a quiet transfer window, reports ESPN.

Nathaniel Clyne is named as the player who United are most interested in signing in order to sure up the right-back spot which has been such a problem area this season.

Constant injuries to Rafael have stopped him from playing regular football and Antonio Valencia simply isn’t a right-back by trade, so is nothing more than a stand-in.

Part of a flying Southampton side, Clyne has been in superb form this season and particularly impressed in both games against United.

He was linked with United back in early December but with Southampton doing so well, United would more than likely have to pay a premium on top of the fact he is an English player, which always carries a pricetag of its own.

ESPN’s Miguel Delaney also states Van Gaal’s insistence on signing Kevin Strootman in January has diminished due to AS Roma’s stance and will now be far more likely as a deal in the summer instead, if it were to happen.
