Player Ratings: QPR 0-2 Man Utd – Rojo shines on return

by Richard Laverty

David de Gea 8 Was back to his busy best today. Dealt with everything and made a few top saves to keep United in the game.

Phil Jones 6 Did well today, that clumsiness is still there but looked confident coming forward and helped defence keep a clean sheet.

Jonny Evans 5 A more positive performance but one lapse of concentration almost cost United again and Evans is far too prone to being the man costing the team. Solid otherwise.

Marcos Rojo 7 Welcome return, could easily class him as man of the match. Brought a solidity back to United bar one miscommunication with Carrick, good to have him back.

Antonio Valencia 6 Did well. Nothing spectacular but did job defensively and set up the opening goal, can’t ask much more on a difficult day.

Michael Carrick 5 Game bypassed him in the first half as United played long ball after long ball. Was exposed in the diamond but we know he’s not a defensive midfielder, will perform better in his own role.

Juan Mata 4 Not one of his finer games. One good pass set up Falcao but apart from that never settled. Was subbed at half-time.

Wayne Rooney 5 Looking less and less comfortable in his midfield role, lack of confidence from defence meant he never got on the ball. Needs to play further up the field.

Daley Blind 7Another very good performance for the returning Blind. Did well on the wing and put in a few lovely crosses.

Angel Di Maria 6 Nothing special but more involved than last week. Had the odd chance to run at QPR and set up the clincher for Wilson.

Radamel Falcao 6 Missed chances will tell the story but was thwarted by Rob Green twice. All round game was good, excellent movement and looked sharp but it needs to happen for him a.s.a.p.

Substitutes

Marouane Fellaini 7 United won six in a row with Fellaini and won again today thanks to his opener. Continues to look an important player at United now.

James Wilson 7 His pace on the break killed QPR and looked at home today. Cool finish wrapped the game up.

Ander Herrera N/A Played for all of 20 seconds!
