Here is today’s Manchester United transfer news and gossip.
Man United’s £27 million offer for Nicolas Otamendi has been rejected by Valencia. The Spanish side have confirmed they have rejected an offer but have refused to name the club responsible for the offer. However, earlier today Guillem Balague stated that it was indeed United who had been the club making the offer. Despite Balague’s claims, United have denied making any offer for the Valencia player. Otamendi is one of many centre backs currently being linked with a move to Old Trafford and it was expected that United may try to strengthen at centre back in January, if possible.
Guillem Balague has said 19-year-old Andreas Pereira has rejected Man United’s first contract offer. The young Brazilian has trained all season with United’s first-team under Louis van Gaal and has made great progress over the last 12 months, so it’s a surprise to hear he turned down United’s offer of a new contract.
United target Paulo Dybala will sign a new contract at Palermo within the next week says their club president Maurizio Zamparini. The 21-year-old Argentinian has caught the attention of United with his impressive display in the Serie A season thus far, with Zamparini outlining United’s interest in the player within the last week. Now, Dybala is set to sign a new three year contract at Palermo. However, Zamparini did still suggest that Dybala could be on his way out of the Italian club in the summer, with a hefty price tag attached.
Valencia and West Ham are interested in signing Darren Fletcher. The Scot has struggled to get a lot of game time under Louis van Gaal and could now leave Old Trafford in search of regular first-team football. It was suggested by a number of journalists that United could attempt to use Valencia’s interest in Fletcher to their benefit in chasing the signature of Nicolas Otamendi, for whom Valencia rejected United’s initial offer. Fletcher’s Old Trafford exit would be a timely one as he looks to take full advantage of his brilliant recovery from ulcerative colitis.
Martin Odegaard has agreed a move to Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain. The Norwegian wonderkid has had trials and talks with a range of top European clubs over the past six months, including United. However, it appears the starlet is set to finalise a move to join Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Odegaard had been heavily linked with a move to United and rivals Liverpool, now both sides look set to miss out on the 16-year-old star.
