Balague re-affirms rejected Otamendi bid is from Man United

Guillem Balague has re-affirmed that Manchester United are the club who have had a €35m bid for Nicolas Otamendi rejected.

Valencia confirmed a bid had been rejected and chose not to name the club in question but Balague has continued to insist the unnamed club is Man United.

Elsewhere, The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden reports that sources within United are adamantly denying all interest in Otamendi, in much the same fashion as they did in the build-up to Juan Mata being signed last January.

Balague has a history of being hot and cold with some of his stories regarding Man United transfers but he must have some strong information so as to state his point about United being the club who had a bid rejected on more than one occasion.

Super Deporte in Spain have been at the forefront of reporting this story and they suggest both that Otamendi is loyal to Valencia and that they will be holding out for his full release clause which is believed to be €50m. If that’s the case, United will have to put forward a vastly improved offer to secure the Argentinian this January.
