Manchester United have ‘opened talks’ with Cerro Porteno superstar Sergio Diaz according to reports in Italy.
Diaz only turned 16 just before Christmas and is already shining for Paraguay’s top football club alongside established stars like former Spain international Dani Guiza.
He has been likened in his home nation to Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and reports in Italy also suggest Liverpool are tracking the highly-rated teenager.
The striker scored eight goals in 20 appearances for Cerro Porteno in 2014 and will be further grabbing the attention of managers around the world with his performances in the 2015 South American Youth Football Championship.
Whilst more established young stars like Gerson and Gabriel Barbosa of Brazil will be grabbing the headlines, Diaz scored in Paraguay’s opening game and appears to have an incredible amount of talent for a 16-year-old.
Louis van Gaal has shown a commitment this season to young players, giving debuts to the likes of Patrick McNair, Tyler Blackett, Andreas Pereira and Saidy Janko as well as showing constant faith in James Wilson in attack.
United have also been linked with a range of young players around the world including Diaz’s fellow South American star Kevin Mendez and it seems van Gaal likes the proposition of adding more South American’s to his team after purchasing Radamel Falcao, Angel Di Maria and Marcos Rojo in the summer.
