The 20-year-old right-back took part in a game between Man United’s first-team fringe players and U21s and impressed United’s coaching staff to the point where he earned a second showing.
El Fitouri has been playing for Salford City since December having been released by Manchester City which is reportedly how he was brought to the attention of United’s coaching staff.
It’s not the first time Man United have took an ex-City academy player into the team. Back in 2012, Frederic Veseli made the move across town to United but unfortunately for the Swiss defender, he left the following summer despite some impressive performances for United’s U21s.
A right-back by trade, if El Fitouri were to join then he’d face stiff competition for game time with Saidy Janko and Marnick Vermijl in the squad already, as well as potentially Guillermo Varela who could return from a loan spell at Real Madrid at the end of the season.
As is always the case, United will offer opportunities to lots of youngsters who never make but something must have caught the eye of United’s staff to offer him a second trial. For El Fitorui, it would be the perfect opportunity to earn a permanent move and get back into elite level football again.
