Man Utd agree fee for Aleksander Dragovic – reports

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United have agreed a €20m deal to sign Dynamo Kiev defender Aleksander Dragovic according to reports in Austria.

Austrian media outlet Laola and Sport Net are both reporting the news, while The Guardian has followed up the reports to suggest a £13m bid is ‘being considered’.

Man United were first linked with Dragovic earlier this week by ESPN and the stories have escalated since then, to the point where a fee is now reportedly agreed.

Dragovic, 23, has already nearly made 200 senior appearances and is captain of his national team Austria, so is no stranger to responsibility and with Man United in desperate need of a leader in defence, Dragovic fits the bill in that respect.

To be fair, it would be worth signing Dragovic just for his name alone.

It didn’t take long for Man United fans to get excited once the stories began to emerge about Dragovic, not because they knew who he was but simply because he is a central defender:

We’ll be speaking to both a Ukraine based journalist and a Dynamo Kiev fan this week in order to gain some insight into Dragovic and whether he could be the defensive solution to United’s problems.
