Manchester United are interested in signing Paris St Germain defender Marquinhos, his agent Giuliano Bertolucci has confirmed.
The 20-year-old has been linked with Man United in the past few weeks after reports from France suggested preliminary talks had taken place between Man United and his representatives.
Now, his agent has revealed United are one of a number of clubs enquiring about the Brazilian.
“A number of clubs are asking about him; Manchester United are amongst them,” Bertolucci said.
“He respects the decisions of his coach but he simply wants to play more and spend less time with the substitutes.
“He’s ready to play right-back or defensive midfield if he must. He’s already done it with Roma and even Brazil.
“He will become the best defender in the world. He’s just as good as Thiago Silva and David Luiz.”
PSG signed David Luiz for a world record fee in the summer which has thrown Marquinhos’ future into doubt as he has become third choice with Thiago Silva at the club already.
Although he is only 20, Marquinhos has broken through into Brazil’s national team and played for both Roma and PSG, so he is more experienced than your average 20-year-old.
Whether or not Marquinhos becomes a Man United player remains to be seen but Louis van Gaal‘s interest in him has now been confirmed.
