Here is today’s Manchester United transfer news and gossip.
Aleksandar Dragovic could be on his way to Man United and speculation has increased after a former team-mate took to Instagram to wish him well on a transfer. This comes after it was reported by Austrian outlets that a deal taking Dragovic to United had been agreed.
Rubin Okotie of 1860 Munchen, and former team-mate of Dragovic at Austria Wien, wrote on his Instagram “Wishing you all the best, I hope your transfer happens soon, you are one of the best centre backs in Europe.” Dragovic would be Van Gaal’s latest defensive addition amidst reports of United’s interest in an array of defenders.
United are interested in signing PSG’s Marquinhos, his agent has confirmed. United have been regularly linked with a move for Marquinhos in the past few weeks and Van Gaal is almost certainly in the market for a new defender but time is short in the January transfer window now, so things are going to have to move fast with any deal before the window shuts on 2 February.
David de Gea will decide his United future based on his heart and not money, according to The Mirror. De Gea has been the subject of constant speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, which has only intensified since the arrival of Victor Valdes at Old Trafford.
The Mirror now report that De Gea has told United he will not make his decision on his future based on money, but on his heart. If this is to be the case, De Gea is reportedly extremely happy in Manchester, whilst his parents also approve of him remaining at Old Trafford. Van Gaal had previously said he was confident that De Gea would extend his deal at Old Trafford but the speculation will persist as long as no extension is signed.
West Ham are close to sealing a deal for Darren Fletcher, according to The Telegraph. Fletcher has been linked with a move away from United continually over the past month with West Ham, West Brom and Valencia all credited with an interest in the Scottish international.
Van Gaal had previously poured cold water on talk of Fletcher leaving Old Trafford but it now looks like Fletcher could be allowed to leave the club.
United are preparing to offer James Wilson a new contract at the club, according to The Daily Star. Wilson has impressed Van Gaal since the Dutchman took over the reigns at United in the summer, with Wilson arguably a contributing factor in United allowing the departure of Danny Welbeck.
