Ben Amos joins Bolton on loan

Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos has joined Bolton Wanderers on a one-month loan deal.

The 24-year-old was signed by Neil Lennon on Friday morning after their own goalkeeper Adam Bogdan was ruled out for six weeks with an ankle injury.

Amos was rumoured to be leaving the club throughout January after the arrival of Victor Valdes pushed him further down the order but it appears now a permanent deal will have to wait until the summer.

The goalkeeper has impressed during rare appearances for United and has made just seven appearances since his League Cup debut back in 2008.

In that time he has only made one Premier League appearance and has regularly been stuck behind both Edwin van der Sar and David de Gea in the rankings at Old Trafford.

With Valdes now set to be the permanent back-up to de Gea, Amos most likely finds himself behind Dane Anders Lindegaard too.

Both have been linked with permanent moves away due to Valdes’ arrival and Amos will get plenty of chances now to impress potential suitors during his month at the Macron Stadium.

Sam Johnstone also departed the club this month for League One side Preston North End, leaving United will thrree experienced goalkeepers among their ranks.
