Van Gaal’s press conference: Leicester City (H) – What to expect

by Sam Peoples

Here’s five topics and questions we expect Louis van Gaal to be asked at this week’s press conference ahead of Leicester City.

1. The latest team news and hopefully confirmation there has been no further injury setbacks this week. Are Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling both still unavailable for selection?

2. Further clarification on the future of Darren Fletcher and Wilfried Zaha, particularly Fletcher. The Scottish midfielder looks all set to leave Man United but Van Gaal insisted nothing was in the pipeline during his last press conference, shortly before reports emerged. Will the United boss keep it close to his chest again?

3. Van Gaal will be once again pushed to comment on reports linking the likes of Mats Hummels and Nathaniel Clyne to Old Trafford. As has been the case previously, Van Gaal may not give the press any information.

4. United switched to a 4-4-2 diamond against Cambridge but still looked poor in attack. The press will most likely question Van Gaal on where the problems with United really lie.

5. After the FA Cup shocks last weekend, will Van Gaal be putting even more focus on winning the trophy? Given that it will give him his first piece of silverware as Man United manager, he’ll be taking the competition very seriously.

Van Gaal’s press conference takes place today at 1pm GMT. We’ll be bringing you the latest news when it happens.
