Here is a round-up of today’s Manchester United transfer news and speculation.
Reports from Spain suggest Man United have agreed a fee of £37 million to sign Mats Hummels, As has been well documented, the German international would be an ideal fit for United’s requirement of an experienced, top level centre-back and the reports from Mundo Deportivo would support speculation during the week that United would try and push to secure a deal for Hummels before the close of this window.
Louis van Gaal knows that David De Gea could be tempted to join Real Madrid but has insisted that he wants the Spaniard to remain at Old Trafford. De Gea’s current contract with United expires in the summer of 2016 and his future has been the subject of constant speculation, which has intensified since the arrival of Victor Valdes at Old Trafford.
When questioned on the chances of De Gea joining Real Madrid in his press conference, Van Gaal said: “Everything is possible in the world of football. We want to keep him.” This comes as reports during the week had suggested that De Gea had signed a new deal keeping him at Old Trafford until 2020. Until any official confirmation comes from United, the speculation will persist.
United have signed Sadiq El Fitouri, the 20-year-old Libyan defender has moved to Old Trafford from Evo-Stik First Division side Salford City. The young defender was previously at Manchester City before being released and joining Salford City. El Fitouri only made his debut for Salford City and has now made the sensational move to United.
Darren Fletcher is set to complete his move to West Ham as Van Gaal has confirmed the Scottish international is in London to finalise his move. Van Gaal confirmed he discussed the matter with Fletcher before agreeing to grant him a free transfer.
This will be good news to West Ham manager Sam Allardyce who said the other day that he was still hopeful of being able to complete a deal for the experienced long-term United servant.
Marnick Vermijl’s move to Belgian side Lokeren has collapsed after reports had emerged he was due to sign a long term deal with the club. Lokeren had identified Vermijl as a replacement for their current right back Georgios Galitsios. However, Galitsios has now made a U-turn on his contract dispute with the club. The move would have been a welcome occurrence for Vermijl who has struggled to get near United’s first team set-up since returning from a loan spell at NEC Nijmegen last season.
Ben Amos has joined Bolton on a one-month loan deal. Wanderers boss Neil Lennon has signed the 24-year-old after keeper Adam Bogdan was ruled out for 6 weeks through injury. It has been rumoured that Amos can leave United permanently following the arrival of Victor Valdes and an impressive loan spell could considerably boost his chances of securing top level football if he does depart Old Trafford. Amos has not looked like securing the Number 1 shirt at Old Trafford and a move away from United looks increasingly likely.
