Ben Pearson scores first ever senior goal on loan at Barnsley

Ben Pearson scored his first senior goal yesterday in Barnsley’s 2-1 win over Port Vale.

The 20-year-old midfielder picked the ball up on the edge of his own box and drove forward at pace, completing a fantastic 70 yard run before his deflected effort looped over Port Vale’s goalkeeper.

It was a goal which typified Pearson’s energetic and tenacious style of play and Barnsley boss Danny Wilson was delighted with the Man United youngster.

“You can see why everyone at United rates him so highly,” Wilson said.

“He’s got a terrific engine and real burst of pace.

Having previously been named Man of the Match on his debut for Barnsley, Pearson is certainly enjoying a fine start to his loan spell and it’s great to see him flourishing so well.

Pearson is currently on a one-month loan spell with Barnsley but his impressive performances may well earn him a longer deal which would give him the valuable game time he needs in order to develop.
