Manchester United have confirmed Marnick Vermijl has joined Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee.
The Belgian defender has signed a three and a half year deal and becomes the first official exit from Man United on what has been a quiet transfer deadline day.
Vermijl enjoyed a strong loan spell at NEC Nijmegen last season but has been unable to force his way into Louis van Gaal‘s plans this year.
For Warren Joyce’s U21s, Vermijl was a very consistent player who was happy to play in a variety of positions and his versatility made him an important component of Joyce’s team.
An exit for Vermijl was inevitable after being unable to become part of Van Gaal’s side and he’ll be looking forward to playing regular first-team football with Sheffield Wednesday.
We wish Vermijl the very best at Sheffield Wednesday and will be keeping an eye out for how he is getting along.
