Manchester United players past and present have taken to social media to pay tribute to the departing Darren Fletcher, who joined West Bromwich Albion yesterday.
The 31-year-old was close to joining West Ham United earlier in the transfer window but eventually joined Tony Pulis’ side late on deadline day after being released by Man United.
Fletcher joined the club on schoolboy forms 15 years ago and went on to make 342 appearances in all competitions during a long and distinguished career at Old Trafford.
Famed for his never say die attitude, the Scot played a vital part in one of Man United’s most successful ever periods. Having established himself as United through and through, several of the club’s players have wished him the best of luck at his new club.

Although Fletcher’s performance levels dropped this season, he will be remembered as one of the most hard-working and loyal players that the club has ever had.
The response from United player’s shows how popular of a figure Fletcher was in the dressing room, with his exit also constituting a substantial loss of experience in Louis van Gaal‘s side.
Despite this, Fletcher has earned his golden swan song at West Brom and we wish him the best in the future.
