Dragovic hails ‘world class’ Man Utd

by Ben Topliss

Aleksander Dragovic believes he is ready to leave Dynamo Kiev and step up to a higher level amid reports of interest from Manchester United.

In January, there were reports that Man United were hoping to seal a €20m deal for Dragovic during the transfer window but a move never materialised.

The defender said he did not want to move in January but conceded that he was flattered by the interest from United and would find it hard to turn a future transfer down.

Speaking about where he will play next season, Dragovic said: “We have seen in the last six months that I feel ready. At some point I will hopefully step up.

“I feel very, very comfortable with Kiev. The time now is not that I really want to leave the club.”

On the subject of Manchester United’s interest, Dragovic continued: “This is a world class club but you do not need to talk.”

A full Austrian international, Dragovic was just one of an ever-growing list of defenders to be linked with a move to Old Trafford in the transfer window, along with the likes of Mats Hummels and Raphael Varane.

The 23-year-old has impressed in Ukraine since joining from Basel and is a regular at the heart of the Austrian defence. Also said to be interesting Arsenal, he scored his first goal for his country late last year against Brazil.
