Wilson names Smalling as Man Utd’s fastest player

Manchester United’s James Wilson has surprisingly said that, according to the stats, Chris Smalling is the fastest player in the squad.

Despite playing alongside the likes of Angel di Maria and Ashley Young, Wilson named Smalling as the fastest player at Man United based on GPS tracking data.

Speaking about who is the quickest player at the club, Wilson said: “We wear GPS tracking devices in training and they tell you how far you have run and how fast.

“Obviously there are players like Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, myself and a few others, but going on stats it is probably Chris Smalling.

“That is maybe not who you would think! But Chris has got a pretty good speed.”

Wilson is no slouch himself and has shown that he has plenty of pace whenever he has got on the pitch.

The majority of Man United fans would certainly think he is quicker than Smalling, who often looks sluggish at the back. In fact, there are a lot of players at the club who fans might have considered quicker than the defender.

Wilson also talked about David de Gea and his unusual pre-match superstition where he likes to sit in the same position every time the squad eats lunch. Whatever you’re doing at the moment Dave, keep doing it.
