Vojvodina’s goalkeeping coach Boris Nagy expects Vanja Milinkovic to be Manchester United’s third choice goalkeeper next season.
The 17-year-old, signed by Louis van Gaal last year, is yet to make his debut as he was immediately loaned back out to Vojvodina where he has been enjoying some first-team football in Serbia.
Man United have been monitoring Milinkovic’s progress with Vojvodina closely and he also visited earlier this season so that United’s coaching staff could test out Milinkovic themselvces.
As good as Milinkovic looks on paper, there’s very little chance he’ll come in straight away as third choice goalkeeper.
Although Anders Lindegaard and Ben Amos are expected to be sold in the summer on permanent deals, Joel Castro Pereira, 19, is making great strides with United’s U21s and even further back the likes of Kieran O’Hara will be challenging Milinkovic too.
There’s nothing wrong with confidence so long as it isn’t misplaced and in this scenario, Milinkovic needs to make sure he comes to the club with a hard working mentality in order to earn his opportunities, rather than any expectancy.
