Marco Reus has ended current speculation around his future by signing a new contract with Borussia Dortmund which will keep him at the club until 2019.
The 25-year-old world class midfielder had been heavily linked with an exit this summer thanks to a release clause which existed in his contract but the new deal from Dortmund is likely to have taken that release clause out.
Given that Dortmund currently sit just one point away from the bottom of the Bundesliga, it makes it all the more impressive that they were able to secure a new deal with Reus.

Of course, the cynical eye will look at the news as no guarantee Reus’ future lies with Dortmund. What it does guarantee the German club is that if Reus were to now be sold in the future, it would be for market value rather than a release clause.
Either way, it’s a rare piece of good news for Dortmund in what has been an appalling season and if Louis van Gaal did now want to make a move for Reus, he will now cost a whole lot more.
