We’ve taken a look at a few potential formations for Manchester United’s game against Burnley tonight but now we’re going to give our take on what the best available XI is for Louis van Gaal.
First things first is a 4-4-2 diamond formation. Van Gaal has moved back to it recently and it’s the formation which encourages our attacking players, so we should be sticking with it.
The next point to note is a certain Ander Herrera starting in midfield alongside Angel di Maria. Their partnership was excellent during November before injuries cursed both and with Daley Blind anchoring behind them, they should have scope to roam forward but Herrera would have the tenacity to track back too.
Also, Wayne Rooney starts up front where he absolutely should be playing. With Robin van Persie worryingly out of form against West Ham, we’ve paired Rooney with Falcao instead of James Wilson to give him another chance.
Paddy McNair also comes in at right-back ahead of Antonio Valencia because although Valencia played well against West Ham, he didn’t offer enough going forward which is where McNair thrived in his debut game at right-back.
