Marquinhos’ agent hints at Paris St Germain exit if poor game time continues

Marquinhos’ representative Giuliano Bertolucci has made it clear that the Manchester United target could leave Paris St Germain in order to find more first-team football.

The 20-year-old Brazilian defender joined PSG from Roma back in 2013 for €31.4m but the signing of David Luiz last summer pushed him down the pecking order.

Bertolucci has named Man United as one of the clubs interested in signing Marquinhos and if PSG can’t offer him the regular minutes he needs in order to become the best defender in the world, Bertolucci is happy for him to consider a move away.

“Last summer the president of PSG [Nasser Al-Khelaifi] stated that Marquinhos was unsellable; we will see what he thinks next June,” Bertolucci said.

“So many [clubs] want him, including Manchester United. What is certain is that Marquinhos wants to become the best defender in the world.

“He is still not at the level of Thiago Silva and David Luiz, so for this reason he respects the choices of the coach.

“But he doesn’t want to spend much more time on the bench. If necessary, he can play also as a full-back or a wide midfielder.”

Marquinhos was originally linked with Man United by reports in the French press and his agent has already previously confirmed the interest, so it very much seems Marquinhos is a genuine option for van Gaal.

Last week, the Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman spoke exclusively to The Peoples Person and he certainly thinks Marquinhos is somebody who Man United will push hard for. His agents’ comments have made it clear there is some room for negotiation.
