The 27-year-old misplaced a number of passes, got pushed off the ball far too often and constantly lost his man during Burnley’s set pieces.
One particular clearance from him literally went 30 yards straight above him and back down. He was easily Man United’s worst player on the night.
Evans was only included in the starting XI because of Luke Shaw‘s suspension and it appears his days at Old Trafford are numbered.
It is quite sad given that Evans came to the fore for Man United in the season when Nemanja Vidic was ruled out for the whole year after suffering an injury. At the time, Evans was a great ball playing centre-back who was reliable. Nowadays, he’s more reliant robin.
Evans has been in this situation with the fans before and turned it around but does he have the mental or physical capacity to do it twice? The fact of the matter is that Evans hasn’t pushed on since Sir Alex Ferguson retired and his poor performance against Burnley puts him under immense pressure from here on in.
