Manchester United’s Angel di Maria looks like he is getting back to his old self following a lively display in the 3-1 win over Burnley on Wednesday.
Lively and full of running, the Argentine set up Chris Smalling for his second goal and later won a penalty which Robin van Persie converted.
Di Maria asked plenty of questions of the Burnley defence throughout the match and was particularly threatening on the counter.
The performance was a far cry to those of recent weeks where Di Maria looked sloppy and predictable. Prior to the Burnley game, Di Maria had registered zero goals and zero assists in four games since the start of 2015.
It was a worrying dip in form given the blistering start to his career at Old Trafford. A pelvic injury did not help his cause but until yesterday Di Maria had looked a shadow of the player that terrorised defences at Real Madrid last season.
His £59m acquisition was a hugely exciting one for United fans and they will be delighted that Di Maria is starting to get back on form. He will be a vital player for the club as they look to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
