Fans’ view: Manchester United vs Preston – Who should start up front?

by Ben Topliss

On paper, Manchester United have one of the best attacking line-ups in the world. In reality, an attacking quartet of Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao, Wayne Rooney and James Wilson have struggled this season and Louis van Gaal’s first-choice strike duo is far from certain.

In recent games van Gaal has opted for a partnership of van Persie and Falcao but they have so far failed to work together effectively.

Rooney has been employed in a restrictive midfield role and Wilson has been left struggling for game time.

The situation has left United fans wondering just who will start against Preston North End in the FA Cup tonight. We asked our Twitter followers for their thoughts on the situation:

It seems as if the majority of fans would like to see Wilson given some minutes on the pitch against Preston.

Such a move would make sense given the youngster’s fledgling career at Old Trafford but van Gaal has proven his line-ups are frustratingly unpredictable.

Whatever line up United go with, they should have enough to get past the tie.
