Manchester United’s performance in the 3-1 win over Preston North End was a football cliché game of two halves.
The first saw Man United unable to break down a stubborn Preston defence who were regimented very well but the second half was a completely different kettle of fish.
With that in mind, the first potential XI formation ahead of Swansea this Saturday is inspired by Man United’s set-up in the second half against Preston.
Marouane Fellaini adopts a higher role in behind Wayne Rooney while Ander Herrera and Daley Blind work in unison both as deeper lying midfielders. Having those two together in the middle would give Louis van Gaal the balance he craves.
This formation effectively depends on the wingers and full-backs creating space for United’s midfielders to exploit. Ashley Young was in great form against Preston and Louis van Gaal will want the English midfielder to do much of the same against Swansea.
There’s no room for Radamel Falcao in the team as we don’t think he deserves it after his poor performance against Preston.
