Louis van Gaal has been warned as to his future conduct after he was found to have breached FA rules for media comments made in the wake of Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Cambridge United last month.
It was alleged that van Gaal’s comments following the FA Cup fourth round tie implied bias on the part of the match referee and/or brought the game into disrepute.
Van Gaal was critical of referee Chris Foy after the frustrating result, saying that “every aspect of the match is against us.”
He arranged a personal hearing with the FA and an Independent Regulatory Commission has now decided to just warn van Gaal about his behaviour in the future.
It was unlikely that the FA would clear van Gaal of any wrongdoing whatsoever but the 63-year-old and United will be pleased that he has avoided a touchline ban or a similar punishment.
