Manchester United fans were delighted to see Ander Herrera back in the starting XI to face Preston North End on Monday and the Spanish midfielder didn’t disappoint.
Herrera’s equaliser changed the game in Man United’s favour and Preston weren’t able to keep United at bay as they went on to win 3-1 having been 1-0 down.
It’s been a tough couple of months for Herrera at United. Louis van Gaal has favoured Wayne Rooney in a central midfield role which has kept him out of the team and his start against Preston was his first since January.
However, going into this weekend’s game Herrera will be full of confidence again and he certainly looked happy in training:
Fans have warmed quickly to Herrera not only because of his endearing character but because he delivers with his performances. He helps United tick.
Understandably, United fans will want to see Herrera in the starting XI for tomorrow’s trip to Swansea and if he can put in another influential performance, it could be the catalyst he needs to secure himself a regular spot in van Gaal’s starting XI.
