Robin van Persie has a love-hate relationship with Manchester United fans at the moment after the Dutchman failed to influence play at all against Swansea City.
Despite firing United to their 20th league title almost on his own, van Persie struggled under David Moyes and despite being the club’s top scorer this season, he has had more bad days than good.
The 2-1 defeat at Swansea may have been his worst in a red shirt, every half chance he got ended up going away from the target and he just couldn’t get a hold of the game.
When he’s on form, he looks the part but the striker now tends to look tired, lethargic and at times disinterested when the team are struggling and fans are losing patience with the Dutchman.
First season aside, van Persie has looked disinterested. His attitude stinks. It's no mark of a Manchester United player. Sell him. #mufc

I can't work out how Van Persie played (well, was on the pitch) for 90 minutes. Astonishing.

Van Persie really poor today. Has to be dropped for the next game.

As it stands, United need a new striker as much as they need a central midfielder and centre-back. Robin van Persie was a passenger today.

When is van Gaal going to realise van Persie is finished. He should not be starting games, especially games like this. #mufc

Fans who called for him to dropped after the dismal display may get their wish as van Persie was pictured leaving the Liberty Stadium on crutches after the game.
He did pick up an ankle knock late in the game and carried on but it appears the injury may be more serious than it seemed at the time. With Radamel Falcao on the bench, now might be the Colombian’s perfect time to shine.
