Angel di Maria’s performance against Swansea was met by some criticism from Manchester United fans who felt he didn’t do enough with his performance despite providing an assist for Ander Herrera‘s goal.
The Argentinian has been blowing hot and cold for Man United this season and since returning from injury, he hasn’t yet been able to recapture the early season form which made him so devastating at the start.
Yet, for all his bad recent form, Di Maria sits second in the Premier League’s assists chart with eight and only has Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas ahead of him.
For a player who has under-performed, that’s far from a bad return:
8 – Only Cesc Fabregas (15) has assisted more goals than Angel Di Maria (8) in the Premier League this season. Crafty.

Taking a look at these numbers, have United fans been too harsh with Di Maria and should he instead be praised for his performances this season rather than criticised for not doing enough?
A lot of it may be simply to do with his £59.7m pricetag. It’s a price which should guarantee a goal or assist in almost every game as so few players are sold for that price, so that could be negatively effecting Di Maria.
