Luis Nani. Creator of magic moments, conductor of frustrated fans, curator of inconsistency.
There haven’t been many players who have polarised fans’ opinion so much as Nani over the years, thanks in no small part to his pendulum form which can swing anywhere between brilliant and amateur within the space of a week.
At Manchester United, Nani’s brilliance became sandwiched by an inability to find his consistency following some career threatening injuries but on loan at Sporting Lisbon, he is starting to make all the right noises again.
Sure, it’s only the Portuguese league, but goals like this have nothing to do with the opposition, it was just an outrageously good goal.
This season, Nani has been one of Sporting’s stand-out players and there has been discussion among fans as to whether he should be given another chance under Louis van Gaal.
@PeoplesPerson_ Give him a chance. See if he can play, if he doesnt perform then let him leave

@PeoplesPerson_ Time to leave! We'll get decent money for him if he continues his form at Sporting.

@PeoplesPerson_ take him back, he's clearly shown his quality at lisbon and can be a beneficial player, especially if we make champions lg

@PeoplesPerson_ If we had Di Maria and Nani on either wing it'd be a toss of a coin whether we won or not. Inconsistency at it's finest.

@PeoplesPerson_ nope! time to bring in Depay. Younger, plays exact same position and more potential – especially under #lvg #fansview #mufc

@PeoplesPerson_ #fansview nope
Too inconsistent.

Just like they were when Nani was playing for Man United, the fans are split – some want to see him shipped out at the earliest opportunity whilst others would like to see him given another chance at the club:
