Manchester United youngster Andreas Pereira has revealed he has spoken to Paul Pogba about a possible move to Italian giants Juventus.
Pereira’s contract runs out at the end of the year and he has rejected Man United’s first offer of a new deal which has led to heavy speculation about where his future will lie, with Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus all linked with a move for the midfielder.
Pereira himself has now commented on the rumours and admitted his United career is up in the air, while he also discussed life at Juventus with Pogba.
Speaking about his future, Pereira said: ”Everyone knows that Juve is a great club. I spoke several times with Paul, he’s a great friend of mine. He told me that I would find myself in Turin very well both professionally and personally.
“These two aspects are very important to me. Right now, however, I’m blocked at United. My agent is evaluating the offers that have come to us including Juventus, but this is not a secret, neither is my recent refusal of the proposal made to me by my current club.
“Of course I know the Italian league and certainly wouldn’t mind looking at playing there for one of the best. Then if I could do it with Pogba it would be even more interesting. But I say that I have not yet made a decision. Together with my entourage I’m considering all proposals that have been made and before making a decision I will have to evaluate many things, not only the economic aspect… that will be important but not binding for my final decision.”
Pogba’s involvement in the saga will remind fans of how the Frenchman slipped away from United in 2011.
The then 18-year-old became increasingly frustrated with life at Old Trafford, particularly when Rafael da Silva and Park-Ji Sung were played ahead of him during a game against Blackburn Rovers. Pogba left on a free transfer and has since gone on to become one of the world’s best midfielders.
The episode has left United fans fearful whenever a promising young player is linked with an exit from the club so Pereira’s situation will be a cause for concern. Adnan Januzaj has also been linked with a departure from United but it appears unlikely he will be leaving any time soon.
