David de Gea has moved to completely quash rumours his relationship with Louis van Gaal has soured.

Reports from Spain this week said the Spanish goalkeeper had fallen out with van Gaal to the point where they hadn’t spoken for months, sparking fresh speculation about his future at the club.

However, speaking to, De Gea insisted he enjoys a great relationship with van Gaal and that he was really enjoying his football at Manchester United.

“Everything that has been written in the press about us not getting on is a lie,” he said.

“We both want the best for the club and the team, and the stories are complete lies.

“I think this is the best period of my career. I am playing the best football that I’ve ever played.

“I’m really enjoying it at the moment and I’m just trying to improve with every training session and every game that goes by, giving 100 per cent and concentrating to the maximum. That’s the way I want to continue.”

Fans will be delighted to hear De Gea dismiss all the rumours as nothing but fabricated stories because of how important he is to the club now as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

An interesting point to note with these quotes from De Gea is that Man United don’t tend to take any steps to quash rumours in the press but they chose to interview De Gea and specifically question him on the reports, which indicates they are keen to stop them as soon as possible.

Speculation will no doubt continue until either De Gea signs a new contract or leaves the club but these comments from De Gea will at least dismiss stories that were simply made up by the Spanish press.
