Manchester United’s Louis van Gaal believes he has brought the fear factor back to Old Trafford and that the club’s home form will be crucial if they are to qualify for the Champions League this season.
Van Gaal’s side have won ten of their 13 Premier League fixtures in front of their own fans this season and only league leaders Chelsea have a better record.
In contrast, Man United’s away form has been far less impressive and they suffered a 2-1 defeat in Wales at the hands of Swansea City last weekend.
Van Gaal is pleased with United’s home record but knows the team must improve on the road.
Speaking about playing at home, van Gaal said: “I think all the clubs that are coming have fear.
“I like that, but it has to continue. we have to continue to win at home. But it’s also very important to win away, because our away statistics are not so good.”
United may have enjoyed some good results at Old Trafford in recent weeks but their performances have not been up to scratch.
With Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool all improving, United will need to turn around their fortunes and quickly. Just four points separate third and seventh place in the league so the team cannot afford to slip up again.
