Louis van Gaal keen to extend Manchester United contract to 2020 – report

Manchester United wants to extend his stay at Old Trafford to 2020 after supposedly falling in love with the club since joining in the summer.

The report comes from journalist Steve Bates, a regular mouthpiece this season for news from inside Old Trafford, so it’s possible the story has plenty of credibility.

Van Gaal originally signed a deal to spend three years at the club in order to rebuild the team after a dreadful season under David Moyes in the last campaign.

Whilst performances and results haven’t improved a huge amount under van Gaal, signings have been impressive and the players seem much more comfortable under their new boss, and appear to respect him more than they did with his predecessor.

Bates story suggests van Gaal outlined his plans to the Glazer family recently which would lead the club through to 2020, meaning the Dutchman would spend another five years at Old Trafford after the current season ends.

Whilst United fans would want to see an improvement in performances, they would be happy to see a return to long-term stability that Sir Alex Ferguson brought to the club.

The Glazer family were in attendance at the recent Premier League match against Burnley and it appears van Gaal stayed at Old Trafford until the early hours in the morning to discuss his future with the owners.
