Manchester United’s Juan Mata and Ander Herrera in fashion faux pas

Who wore it better? Manchester United’s Juan Mata and Ander Herrera had an awkward encounter at Carrington on Monday after turning up to training in the same outfit.

Both players have had contrasting fortunes of late with Herrera given an extended run in the team while Mata continues to occupy the substitute’s bench.

The majority of fans expected to see Mata against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon but he was again left out as Herrera impressed in the starting XI.

However, Mata was in good spirits and took to social media to share the duo’s fashion faux pas (or a well disguised Adidas advertisement, you decide):

Man United enjoyed a wealth of possession against Sunderland but, as is so often has been the case this season, struggled to do much with it.

A player like Mata would have thrived in the conditions so his exclusion was an odd one for United fans.

The team secured an important 2-0 victory and Louis van Gaal will point to United’s good results as vindication for his decisions. Mata will be looking to start on Wednesday night as United take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
