All three players came into good form during the month and are deservedly up for the award.
Having been kept out of the side by Louis van Gaal, Herrera was afforded an opportunity and given some much needed game time. He certainly made the most of his chances having scored two goals in five appearances and has now equalled his best ever scoring record for one season with five goals in total.
Rojo also grew into his role as a centre-back in Louis van Gaal‘s side and was a commanding presence in the heart of defence. In a team bereft of leaders, Rojo impressed with his strong performances and reliability having only missed nine minutes of football in the whole of February.
Defensive partner Smalling is the final nomination but maybe not simply for his defending as his brace against Burnley was his personal highlight for the month. Earlier this season, Smalling was lambasted after his red card versus Manchester City threw away the derby when United were in control and fans were understandably frustrated but he has responded very well to that deserved criticism.
