James Wilson out of squad for Newcastle United game – report

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United will be without James Wilson for their Premier League clash with Newcastle United tonight.

Reports from Red News, which have been spot on in recent weeks, suggest Wilson will be left out of the squad altogether, although the reasons why are unclear.

With Robin van Persie currently injured, it is likely that Louis van Gaal will go for a strike duo of Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao.

With that in mind, a fit and ready Wilson would surely be used as a backup option from the bench so his exclusion tonight must be down to an injury. Either that or van Gaal intends to line-up with Rooney up top and Falcao on the bench.

As we said earlier in our latest team news, there is always the chance for late changes and Wilson’s withdrawal would certainly be one of them.

Fans would have been delighted to learn van Persie was the only injured player in United’s squad following Michael Carrick’s return to training, so any potential injury to Wilson would be a blow.

Van Gaal has previously said he considers Marouane Fellaini his fifth choice striker so it is likely that fans will again see him up there tonight if things aren’t going United’s way.
