Manchester United’s David de Gea delighted with Newcastle United victory

Manchester United keeper David de Gea was delighted to beat Newcastle United 1-0 on Wednesday night following a busy night for the Spaniard.

De Gea pulled off a string of fine saves to deny Ayoze Perez and Papiss Cisse while Tim Krul kept Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini out at the other end.

Ashley Young eventually won it for Man United after Rooney had forced an error from Krul in the dying moments of the match.

It was a tough game for United and De Gea was pleased to come away from it with all three points:

With Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool all winning anything less than victory against Newcastle would be a huge failure for United.

They got across the finish line in the end, extending their run to two defeats in 22 games in the process. Although performances haven’t been at the required level in recent games, Louis van Gaal has certainly moulded a team that is capable of grinding out results.
