David de Gea proved once again that he was ready to be called upon when necessary by Manchester United again on Wednesday night against Newcastle.
Not for the first time, De Gea was crucial to United still being in a position to win a game but in fairness to him, Tim Krul was just as impressive at the other end.
De Gea was solid in the first half but it was an instinctive block from point-blank range in the second half which kept United in it.
Even after Ashley Young had won the game for the visitors, the Spaniard pushed away another header as United crawled over the finish line and they simply wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t for De Gea’s performance once again, something fans are well aware of:
Manchester United are my favourite cause of cardiac arrest. I love them. I love David De Gea, best in the league. Goodnight.

David de Gea was again superb. Calm & composed throughout the game, made 3 or 4 vital stops. The one at the end was a game changer.

David De Gea is just sensational. Comfortably United's best and most important player.

United fans have every faith at this point they can rely on De Gea in almost any eventuality after some superb individual performances this season.
De Gea was practically solely responsible for wins against Everton, Arsenal, Southampton and Liverpool and has barely put a foot wrong as United look to battle their way into the top four. Long live Dave.
