Louis van Gaal: No fresh injury concerns for Manchester United ahead of Arsenal clash

by Ben Topliss

Louis van Gaal has revealed Manchester United have no fresh injury concerns following the 1-0 win against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

The news that there are no new injuries is great news because of the upcoming fixtures and it means Robin van Persie and Luke Shaw remain the only players currently sidelined with an injury.

United’s fitness levels were certainly on show against Newcastle with the team pushing hard to get the win right until the last whistle, least not with Wayne Rooney whose late run pressured Tim Krul into a rushed clearance which Ashley Young gladly converted.

This season, United have had a torrid time with injuries so van Gaal will be pleased to learn that his players came through the clash against the Magpies unscathed.

Wayne Rooney and Marouane Fellaini came close to breaking the deadlock before Ashley Young secured a vital three points for United with a winner in the dying moments of the game.

Coming into a tough two week period in which United face Arsenal in the FA Cup and both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in the Premier League, the last thing van Gaal would have wanted was fresh injury concerns.

It means United go into this period with a strong squad which puts them in a great position to go and attack the games.
