David de Gea 9 Was at his best again tonight, a few routine saves became crucial but he made a stunner from Riviere.

Antonio Valencia 7 Attacked well tonight and put in a few dangerous balls, looked lively.

Chris Smalling 6 Also had a solid performance, won plenty of battles and was resolute, but should have conceded a penalty.

Jonny Evans 7 Much more positive from Evans tonight, played very well but could face a ban for an incident with Cisse.

Marcos Rojo 5 Defended ok but was a bit rash in his decision making going forward, will be back in the centre soon.

Daley Blind 6 Made some well timed interceptions but was left on his own once again a few too many times, but was solid.

Ander Herrera 6 Settled into the team well again, nothing spectacular tonight but ticking along nicely.

Angel Di Maria 5 Was maybe unlucky to be hooked as he was coming into the game, showed lively signs at times, an improvement on Saturday.

Marouane Fellaini 6 Did his job well and was really unlucky not to score, caused problems all night.

Ashley Young 7 Funnily enough, not one of his better games but such an important (and composed) goal.

Wayne Rooney 6 Missed a few chances and struggled but his determination led to the goal, a captain’s moment.

Adnan Januzaj 6 Given he was up against the returning Jonas, he should have done better but still added extra pace.

Juan Mata N/A Only had 10 minutes and rarely had a chance to shine.

Michael Carrick N/A Similar to Mata, although his introduction did coincide with the United winner.
