Marouane Fellaini happy after strong performance against Newcastle

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini was pleased to beat Newcastle United 1-0 on Wednesday night and is now looking ahead to the FA Cup quarter-final meeting with Arsenal next week.

Newcastle keeper Tim Krul kept out efforts from Fellaini and Wayne Rooney while David de Gea produced a series of superb saves to deny Ayoze Perez and Papiss Cisse at the other end of the pitch.

Anything less than three points would have been a failure for United given Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool all won in the race to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

Ashley Young eventually grabbed a late winner for Man United after Rooney hounded Krul into a mistake. Fellaini was delighted with the win and said he’s excited to face Arsenal in the Cup:



Fellaini put in a solid performance during the game and has really turned around his United career, much like Young has.

The Belgian was often made a scapegoat when he first arrived at the club following a torrid season under David Moyes last year. In recent months, Fellaini has looked dangerous and has provided a good outlet for the likes of Young and Di Maria down the flanks. He will be looking to keep up his good run of form against the Gunners.
