Manchester United’s club record signing Angel di Maria has taken the decision to put his house up for sale.
The £4m mansion was put on the market this week just a month after Di Maria and his family were burgled whilst inside the luxury property.
Whilst the thieves escaped with nothing, Di Maria and particularly his family were clearly shaken by the incident and have since been living in a hotel in Manchester city centre.
The 26-year-old has been rumoured to be unhappy since the incident and his form has certainly dropped, the £60m star has been substituted in his last two appearances for the club.
Whilst United would obviously be keen to keep hold of a prized asset less than a year after he arrived, the sale of his house may just be so the family can move to another home in a different area and it would still be naive to believe the story confirms the Argentine’s imminent departure.
However, what it does show is how deep the psychological impact of the incident was for Di Maria and his family which is a fresh concern for fans. It certainly would have played a role in his current dip in form and for fans.
Despite a great start to his United career where he scored three goals in four games, he has struggled to recapture his best form. If he does leave, it appears PSG would be favourites given they were United’s main rivals for the signing last summer.
