There was a welcome sight for Manchester United fans on Sunday as Luke Shaw was pictured training with the first-team squad.
The 19-year-old has been struggling with injuries and has been in and out of the side all season but now looks set to return against Arsenal in the FA Cup on Monday night.
Shaw missed the back-to-back victories against Sunderland and Newcastle and his return will be timely given the six-match ban handed to Jonny Evans this week as it would allow Marcos Rojo to return to his natural position in place of the Northern Irishman.
Shaw’s return also means Louis van Gaal has a decision to make over who partners Rojo at the back with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones both fit and ready, but it was the former who played in both games against Sunderland and Newcastle.
Since arriving in the summer for £27m Shaw has shown in glimpses that he is more than capable of filling the void left by Patrice Evra but injuries have hampered his progress.
In recent months, Shaw has grown more into the team and added an attacking threat to his game, something he can only benefit from coming back into the team with an in-form winger in Ashley Young to link up with.
Shaw will start against Arsenal tomorrow if he is fit enough and United fans will most certainly hoping his injury woes are now behind him until at least the summer.
