Luke Shaw has fired a warning to a couple of his former team mates ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Arsenal on Monday night.
Shaw was part of an exodus of players from Southampton last season as their young stars left for top teams who were willing to take a risk on their talent.
Given the departure of Patrice Evra, a move for the 19-year-old left back made perfect sense for United but Shaw may face Calum Chambers, who also left Southampton last summer for Arsenal.
The defender also referenced Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in his Twitter post, who he will be familiar with from England duty and the latter also from his time at Southampton’s academy.
Despite the tweet, it is unlikely any of the trio will start for the visitors on Monday night whilst Shaw could return to the line-up after missing the two wins against Sunderland and Newcastle.
The teenager did start the reverse fixture in November but hobbled off with an ankle injury just ten minutes into a match where United already had their defence decimated, with the likes of Patrick McNair and Tyler Blackett facing up to the Arsenal attack.
With old faces a topic of discussion, former red Danny Welbeck will make his first return to Old Trafford and will likely start against his former club.
